How do I get my mum from Southampton to Edinburgh

Hi

My mum is on a cruise which gets into Southampton on friday 12th May, she has left me the job of getting her back to Edinburgh. There are no cheap flights, even the train from there is pretty expensive.

If it was me, I would get the megatrain to London, and then get her a cheap flight from one of the London airports, but she will have a heavy case.

Anybody got any bright ideas, as I said I would pay for it.

Thanks

Elaine

Flybe but is just under £100.

To be honest, if its your mum, do you really want to make her travel from Southampton to London then fly up to Edinburgh? Hardly the best way to finish off what will hopefully be a relaxing cruise!

According to the Southampton BAA website, there are now direct flights to Edinburgh from Southampton Aiport:

see http://www.southamptonairport.com and click on Flight Info in the red central panel.

If you click on Featured Destinations it says:

"With BA Connect offering flights to Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow from Southampton passengers are able to take advantage of:
    • Year-round, changeable, one-way fares from as little as £25, including taxes, fees and charges."

It depends on what time her ship comes in & she gets all her luggae together but Naitonal Express do a direct run:

Departs Arrives Duration Changes Details Facilities Select

    05:30 19:10 13hrs 40min 55 min wait (London (central)) 1 View WC

    08:40 21:05 12hrs 25min 0 View WC

    20:00 07:40 13 May 06 11hrs 40min
40 min wait (London (central)) 1 View WC

I have just copied & pasted this from the naitonal express site & it is coming up as £39.50 one way for a concesionary rate (I put in she was a plus60?)
Quite a long journey - but I guess it is a long way!
    Hope this helps!

How about she flys into Glasgow then arrange for her to be collected would that be cheaper.

Or if there is a cheap flight on the 13th it might be worth you giving her 1 extra days holiday in a hotel
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel
