Are you going to record it to DVD or CD. Your DVD recorder would have to have the facility to burn audio discs and not just video discs.0

I was going to record on to DVD with my dvd recorder, and playback with a dvd player hooked up to a stereo system. Would that not work? If I do it this way can it only be played back on a dvd player (i.e. if the stereo was taken out of the equation)?
My DVD recorder is a Philips dvd3300h. It can playback dvd's, audio cd's and cd-r/rw but records on to dvd+r/rw.
Thanks
