PCN recieved -stopped where prohibited

Went shopping today with my mum in birmingham - parked on a wide payment, thought this was ok as there was all these other cars parked there as well, also my mum cant walk very well as shes not very well. Came back to my car prob 30 mins later - had a fine just on my car and not the other cars. Im absolutely fuming . What did i do wrong? The pcn says 'stopped where prohibited (on a red route or clearway) (red route). sorry i cant provide a scan of the fine as i dont have a scanner. what would happen if i dont pay the fine?

  • Do you have a mobile phone with camera or a digital camera? Take pics and see the stickies on how to upload pics.

  • Here are the pics iv uploaded. hope theyre ok. what reasons can i appeal on? This is the 3rd fine iv received in the space of 2 months and i really cant afford to pay this one.

  • Also, on the pavement there was a sign that said
    'Red Route - P Mon - Sat 7am - 7pm 1 hour No Return within 1 hour'

    what does that mean?

Or you could of course just take more care over where you park your car!

  • I am not an expert on this, but I think there is a rule that parking attendants have to work their way down a row of cars, and are not allowed to ticket just one car. The parking restriction notice you have posted suggests to me that you are allowed to park for 1 hour and then you have to go away and not return until another hour has passed, between 7am-7pm Mon-Sat. So if you stayed more than an hour, and the cars around you had all moved, your ticketing was probably correct. Sorry to be (possibly) the bearer of bad news, etc.....

If your mum has consistent and serious mobility difficulties, you could investigate applying for a blue badge for her, which would (if you were successful) reduce your future parking problems.
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • Was the sign you mentioned right beside where you parked? Were you parked in a bay and was that sign relating to that bay? If a bay, how was it painted, pics are essential, and photo including sign to bay.

I was not even there for an hour, 30 mins max, which is what puzzles me.
We have applied for a badge last week, and is being processed at the moment.

The sign was right in front of me, opposite where i was parked. There was no bay, not that i recall, it was a wide pavement with all these cars parked there and i didnt see any markings.
Unfortunately, i do not have any pics as i do not live there, i was just visiting for shopping.

Well i thought i was (obviously not), after having paid a fine last week.
