Testing to see if TV speakers blown

Hello,
I have just purchased myself a new Sony Bravia KDL-40S5500 LCD FullHD TV. The picture quality is great, but noticed that at certain volumes and certain sounds, the speakers sound like they are vibrating. I have been tempted to phone Dixons (where i bought the TV) and complain, but wondered if someone has a speaker test music file (maybe an MP3 file that I can play through my PS3) that i could play through the TV to test to prove to myself if there is a problem. At least then if someone comes to look at the TV from Dixons I can have evidence of the problem.
Unless anyone else has any sure fire ways of testing the speakers, but without taking apart the TV to get to the speakers!
Many thanks in advance

Just play any music CD or run a game up with the intro music or download a THX demo sound. The speakers may vibrate a bit, crammed in a plastic enclosure, not the best place. Can you removed the back and check the speaker/support and check it is not touching anything else. You might improve it but unless the set had very good sound included you might have to get external speakers if you are now finding the sound poor, most are.0

Known issue with a lot of TVs these days. The TV housing just isn't big enough to deal with certain frequencies and will 'buzz' when it encounters them.
I had this on my LG and it was very annoying, although thankfully not all the time. My TV is in a corner and I found that by moving it slightly, there was no bounce from the corner back into the TV and the problem was solved. Any chance you could move the TV so that it's not facing a wall or corner directly? That may be enough to solve it.0 -
What volume is it at? If it's above, say, half, you'll be starting to push the boundaries of what the weedy speakers in most flatscreens can manage without distortion or just plain sounding crap. CRTs would have had much better sound just because there was far more space for better speakers.
My only suggestion would be to check all the screws on the TV are reasonably tight, in case some part of it is vibrating.0 -
op: is your tv one of the sony's with the speaker in a big bar across the bottom of the tv?
like this

or something similar
i have two different tv's like this one cheap and one not so:P
both have excellent sound quality and no "buzz" if the speakers are not in the bar form then im afraid it may just be something you have to live withBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
If you have a connection on your set for external speakers I would choose that option. The sound is almost always much better. Provided you ensure the specs of the external speakers are suitable you should be fine.
Alternatively, how about a dedicated sound system?Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0
