Okay please don't jump on me for not doing my homework!

I have a FRSA with Derbyshire paying a very nice 6.75%. It matures on 30th Sept. Last year I got a letter around 15th August setting out my options and decided to stay with them. This year it got to 1st Sept - no letter. I phoned a couple of times to be told not to worry, when the letter came out I'd be given 30 days to make up my mind, even though that would take me into October.

Well, today, 11th Sept, I've had the letter offering me 3.5% for a one year fix, if I want to accept, I do nothing, but if I want to take some/all out, I have to return the form to them before 25th Sept. So, less than 14 days when posting is taken into account.

I know 3.5% isn't bad, but it's not great either especially for tying it up for another year - AND I'm P'd off that I was given the run around, but am trying not to let that affect my judgement ;)

I have three LTSB vantage accounts, and am maxed out on my ISA for this year (or I will be on 6th Oct when I hand over my over 50's top up).

So if you've spotted a good one or two year deal in the past few days, please can you give me a nudge in the right direction?

Thanks

Daisy

keep in mind that rates seem to be on the rise with the occasional good deal popping up from time to time. You could get 3.25% from Egg with instant access while you wait for something better to come along...

Just to say thanks for the heads up about the egg account. In my headless chicken rush to find a home for my soon to mature funds, I never thought about an instant access account! I have just set up an account - I already have an Egg CC, so that part was quick and painless.

I was annoyed that I felt bounced into doing something quickly, without having time to properly consider all my options. But now the money can be swept into my Egg Account, and I can then look around.

    Many thanks

  • My fixed rate ISA with the Derbyshire also matures at the end of the month and I had a letter from them yesterday. In it, they made no mention of any fixed rate ISA s, merely the variable rate ones. (max 1.25% for 10 yrs membership).
A look on their website reveals a 2 year fixed rate at 3% which allows transfers in from other providers but does not say if matured a/c.s with themselves can be transferred.
I feel a trip to www.fsa.org.uk coming on.
