Why bother to learn - spend too much and the govt will bail out your mortgage and MSE Martin will be along to get you a nice bank charges reclaim windfall - what a waste of effort to manage your finances. :(
    I think....

And why they don't teach the miracle of compound interest at GCSE (well, they didn't in my day) instead of vectors and algebra which they should be conversant in by thirteen anyway.

I remember learning to calculate compound interest when I was about 14; it's probably on the A level syllabus now.

God I really don't remeber calculating compound interest or even hearing the word until I was at uni. And I got an A in GCSE and A level maths. :-(

    As I recall....

    P=C(1+r)^n

Work out the variables for yourself.

This was well below normal O-level maths (remember them?), when the UK had an education system!!!
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
  • no school teaches personal finance to the students - yet many on here know the difference between such a basic thing as an overdraft and actually being credited with cash. this woman is clearly a moron and it says a lot for the british education system that someone so moronic can get into university. why do left wingers think the govt has to meddle and interfere in every part of peoples lives???? isn't it enough that they have dumbed down a levels so much this cretin has got a university place. "what did you get?" "i got two A's one A** and one AS***" er, you mean one A two C's and some lump of rubbish hybrid trash?" "yes"
  • ps, now there is A* are people that took A levels 16 years ago allowed to upgrade all their grades by one? would this be cheating? Or making it fair?

If two people go for a job and the new one has three A's and the old one has three B's. This is the same. As now the B is A and the A is A*

    How gently and thoughtfully put.

    I have one A level. Grade B.

Done by attending a few classes before not being able to go - and just answering the questions right on the 3 hour paper.

Not many A level evening classes, or any evening classes, for years now. Unless you're in a big city, where they have everything from Waitrose and regular farmers' markets through to unlimited educational opportunities if you believe the boards here with people handing out advice willy nilly.

I got half way through an A Level at night school...then they cancelled the course.

Before the days of AS levels, they came in a few years later the b words.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • For the record: I've never had a stranger offer me a drink, nor taken out for a meal. Never been paid for, always paid my way.

And look where it's got me!

    I think she's onto something.
She could be onto something but I have clothes that I've had for years that put together the right way do the same :p. I've had nights out in pubs (without my partner I have to add) where I haven't had to pay for any of my drinks . Have the right outfit and have the right game to play (not that different to those on the real hussel (sp?) but without the cheating :D) and you have a very small likelihood that you have to buy any of your drinks. I do even say to these people I have a partner. If they still want to pay for a drink to see if it gets them anywhere that is their fault, not mine :rotfl:.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
