Error message when loading XP

When I am starting up my PC in XP, I get a message like "windows is unable to find c:\prog files\app name\***.exe ..." When I click on ok, it will continue to load windows normally. This path is actually to an app I have recently uninstalled. When I look in the Startup folder under porgram files, it is not there. When I look in MSCONFIG and REGEDIT, it is also not there. So, why does this message keep popping up?
