  • I'd rather be playing Squash!
  • Hi mercman

I have my sons old desktop that you can have for less than £100 ( a lot less) if you are prepared to pick it up. I am in Doncaster so not far from Mansfield. Don't have the spec to hand at the moment and I would need to clean the HD's. If you are interested post a reply and I will list the spec for you.

    Regards

Its only for our daughter to use...must be able to connect it to a normal tv
  • Hi mercman
Give me 24 hrs to check the spec for you
What do you mean by normal tv? is it CRT or LCD, what connectors does it have?

    regards

Afraid it is still a CRT
Think it has Scart / S-Video & RGB
  • Hi Mercman

Not sure if this is any good for you

Processor Athlon XP running at 1.15 GHz
    46.1 GB hard drive
    Floppy drive
    1 x CD ROM
    1 x CD RW
    MS Win XP Professional
383 MB RAM - yes not a lot to run Windows XP Prof'
Full tower case - bit dirty been in storage a while
    Dates from 2001
Motherboard is an IWill XP333-R which apparently was an overclockers dream at when it first came out. Thats probably why it has 4 (yes 4) fans in the case!!!
I guess it will need a memory upgrade and a bigger hard drive to do what you require
Let me know what you think
  • Thanks...not for me I'm afraid.....wont run what i need it to run

Why do you want to connect it to a normal TV? That's seriously going to limit your options, resolution and I suspect, give any user eye strain and bad headaches. I don't believe a normal TV would even be capable of supporting 640*480 graphics. It's not suitable for 'graphics rich content'.

I'm pretty sure you'd be able to pick up a crt monitor for next to nothing (or free on freecycle).
