help! total driving newbie - what are the costs?!
Hi! I am about to sit my test (3rd time lucky hopefully!) and am trying to calculate whether or not I can afford to run a car. I am adding up - loan repayments, tax, insurance, petrol - is there anything else I should be taking into account? Have never ever owned a car before so am extremely clueless, just trying to read up and research as much as I can - any info gratefully received!

Yes, set aside for £10-15 a month for maintance as well. ie, car tyres - plan for a complete change everyyear (not needed, but it may help pending on amount of miles you do) so any extras for pay for the unexpect should it break down.
And Mot of £45 per test,0 -

Looking at the cost of car and caravan ferry crossing to Isle of Wight and the cheapest route possible from Dorset ie; Lymington to Cowes, or Southampton etc. Anyone got any suggestions please?0

And remember to included the price of fuel at the moment, roughly 96.9p petrol and 99.9p diesel, to fill a tank in a small car like a fiesta is roughly £27 and that lasts about 230 miles, roughly.0
