How much of my NCB will be lost after claim

Hi.

My wife crashed one of the cars insured on traders policy with 7 years NCB. How much discount will I lose when it is proven she is at fault.

Cheers

If it's not protected then it's usually 2 years (don't know if traders policies are different).
There will also be loading for the accident as well, so the initial premium (before discount) goes up as well as the discount going down.
This will need to be declared on any motor vehicle policies she's on for 3 years.

My own experience if that you're not loaded too heavy for a single accident, but if you have multiple accidents then you start getting penalised.

It might be worth (financially) considering some extra training (llike for example ROSPA or IAM). I am not suggesting that she's a bad driver but it can help to avoid accidents that might be caused by others and financially that may work out to be worthwhile. ROSPA and IAM are both charities so don't charge commercial rates and you can often get the costs back through insurance discounts.
ROSPA for example currently do a 25% discount off your renewal premium (once you've passed of course).

The max NCB is 5 years. You lose 2 years for each claim, so at renewal you will have 3 years NCB.
