I was shocked to discover there is a carolt2 on mse recently - a genuine poster, not anyone's sockie; our paths just happened to cross for the first time.

Once did a search for carolt online - there are zillions of us online actually, all no relation to me at all - obviously a common name, though I happened to get to it first on here. I only use it on 1 other site, which I post on very infrequently anyway and not at all for many, many months owing to the fact that it appears to have locked me out and no amount of pleading emails will remind me of my password! Shame.

Like mizzbizz, I just don't have time to post online outside of here, let alone in loads of different names - I'm only on here today due to sicky child (again! - they've not been back 2 weeeks!!). I'm sure I could happily while away the hours, but I just don't have them. Not if I plan to ever sleep......

Actually just remembered - one of my proudest moments online was commenting on a certain well-known online news comment section - on a house prices matter.

As a result of my pointing out the errors in the article concerned, in no uncertain terms, the article was removed completely from their archive - they had the month's before figures, the month's after...but nothing for the month in question.

Little things like that make me feel that I'm doing my own little bit towards ensuring fair and accurate reporting of a matter important to many people.

Working for Truth, in my own tiny way. All helps. :)

Would you consider trying to weave in an MSE message into your sig ?

Edit - my 500th post, should I have used it more thoughtfully??

These two statements seem to be a little incongruous. If you've never been on the receiving end of anything innapropriate on here then why did you have such fear of DD that you felt compelled to back off from MSE?

What did DD do to you to instil such unease? Did you report him?

We didn't cross paths much but the board changed as I felt (only my own view) that he 'played' people sometimes...and cleverly too.

His main DD persona was a good, decent one and he often made entertaining and informative posts but he had a few other sides to his personality that would sneak out on here now and again.
Also, if he disliked someone, he tended to 'go' for them more than I would consider appropriate on an anon, chat board. If someone winds you up or get's on your nerves on here, best to just avoid just like in RLife.

I always put it down to the fact that he worked away from home during the week. Hard for a parent/partner whatever the reasons for it.

Considering it myself at the mo, financially it is a winning idea but OH and I are in angst about it. The price of being apart is hard to define ...it's not just the amount saved/earnt etc.

Anyway, I have no personal axe to grind with DD at all....he just made me feel uneasy sometimes for no reason that I can properly articulate (sic?) here...and the AE's became really difficult to work out too.

I didn't report anything, never do...I take the view that if it offends and one can switch it off, then that's what you do. If it is a personal attack on another poster, then you can post a defence or ignore too....but I find that hard to do.

Funniest posts he ever made were on a SquatNow thread about Armaggedon about 2 years back. That DD was the real DD i think.
