Business Parking VS Residential Parking

Hi,
I wonder if you can help me.
On Wednesday night I parked in a Business Parking Bay which required a permit, which I have but it is for residential parking. I was not aware this bay was for business use only as I have parked there a million times. So I haven't used my car and found yesterday I had 2 parking tickets with the wording "The CEO believes that a penalty charge is payable as the vehicle was: 16B Parked in a permit space without displaying a valid permit".
Is there any chance I can appeal this? I wasn't even aware that we had Business parking bays and I have lived here for years.
Would there even be a chance that we would allow me to pay for one?
Thanks

For anyone to help more info is needed. Copy/scan tickets(both sides) and get photo's of signs and lines so that there is context. Host all on tinypic as per the stickies at top and post here. Experts then can help.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
