Hotmail Plus. Easy in, nightmare out. Beware

This probably should be in rants.

A few years ago I upgraded from (free) Hotmail to (14.99) Hotmail Plus as the capacity at that time wasn't sufficient.

Finding that I am using 1 to 2% of my Hotmail+ capacity of 2 Gig, I have requested that my renewal to Plus be cancelled and that I revert to free Hotmail on renewal.

Ah, says MSN, we don't like the sound of that and so let's indulge in some sharp practice. Instead of giving you back the standard Hotmail capacity of 250Mb we will give you only 25Mb for 30 days, just in case you want to reconsider and pay us £14.99 again. Thereafter it will go up to 250Mb.

If you sign onto Hotmail you get upgraded from an initial 25Mb to 250Mb once after they have been able "to verify your email account and help prevent abuse". I've had a Hotmail account for 10 years!! It certainly doesn't mention the penalty of leaving when you sign up.

Up to now a fan of BG, but now I am reconsidering! I am challenging this practice and in the interests of balance will let you know if successful. In the meantime don't sign up unless you are happy to pay £14.99 for life or leave Hotmail.
