PC Cutting Out

I have a Mesh system which keeps cutting out on me, the system shuts down suddenly but the power light stays on. Could it be the system overheating? My CPU usage seems to be running at 100% all the time. What can i do to prevent this happening? Any help would be much appreciated.

I ran windows task manager and found the culprit, SETI which my hubby installed to do his bit for NASA. Every time it runs it uses the cpu's max capacity. I've stopped the program running and i'm gonna see if system shuts down again to rule out the possibility of a software problem.

I've been having the same problem recently - I think its time for a new HD anyway but i dont think its that causing my PC to go off. After cleaning my fan out its not getting as hot as it used to but its not made any difference to the sudden cut-outs. Last night happened 4 times - very annoying to say the least!! Plus I'm not doing any secret NASA research either!
