British Gas Workers 'Cut Their Own Bills'

Up to 30 British Gas workers have been suspended for allegedly tampering with their own utility bills.

"The group are accused of using the company's system to cut their own gas and electricity bills. About 1,200 staff are based at the call centre in Leicestershire where the allegations were made.

A spokesman for the company said: "British Gas confirmed that a small number of staff members have been suspended following alleged misconduct."

LOL. I guess even BG employees aren't too impressed with BG tariffs!

Maybe this is yet another symptom of call centre Britain where people are retained on agency type contracts and therefore are not of the same calibre as directly employed staff?

Bit unfair on the 1,170 other workers who are being honest. Though I have to agree that subbing out is a bit silly....just think of all the money being wasted on paying the extra layers of middle managment & HR types.

i saw somewhere that they were on buisness rates as they are lower than domestic rates. Never knew business rate was cheaper

Did like the way BG said they 'didn't have full access to customers accounts' they obviously had enough to alter their own!!
