Twaddle from BArclays. They manage to chase debt off you that you owed to Woolwich and it works both ways.
I have an issue with an old Woolwich account just resurfacing from Barclays.
The banks merged, Barclays can't just chose to chase the debts and ignore the liabilites so keep going with them. You don't need your old account number, when barclays took over they'd have ported your woolwich account to a barclays one so will have it all on record.
The can only see on their screens from when it was ported (mine says account opened June 2007 when in fact I'd stop using it in 2001) but the archive dept will have everything and you should get it all with a full subject access request.LegalBeagles0 -
If you go to the branch and ask that the person does an inquiry on their Customer Gateway/Customer system and look at an inquiry called "Migrated Account Enquiry" and they will be able to give you the information.0

hi all, i hope people are still reading this thread!!!
after reading the above comments, I have added the following to Martin's 1st template letter, please let me know what you think??
I realise that I have not had my Barclays account since 28 October 2003, but I understand that since Barclays Bank PLC took over the Woolwich, you will have archived records of my account that I had with the Woolwich and the charges associated with that also. You can find this information from a Migrated Account Enquiry.0 -

Barclays are really bad at this. I've had some condescending letters from some companies, I've had really awful templated letters from some companies ... Barclays responses to my claims manage to be both condescending AND templated. "Dear Miss" ... I'm pretty sure I put that I was Mr. when I wrote to them ...I've been making animations for my daughter. Tell me what you think? Search for "Where are you Pickles?" and "Pickles and the Bully" on YouTube.

EDIT: I am known as Nattie on the bank charges forums since it is the shortened name of NWSM, however, some read it as meaning I am female. I am male but have been cut off in my prime many a time on forums0
