A question on this PPI claim

Years ago I has a credit card while I was working in London and was advised to take out the PPI which I did. The credit card was taken out sometime in 2002 i believe however in 2003 i has lost my full-time job but still has my part-time job and was able to cover my credit card repayments. Then in May 2004 i lost the part-time job and when i rang the credit card to make a claim on the card via my payment of PPI they refused on the grounds that I was working less than 16 hrs. So of course in turn thus has defaulted on the card with no choice.
Is this right they can turn me down because of my hours or is it now a way to throw me off and to stop me pursueing the case?
Can I make a claim now? Or am I too late? No don't have any paperworks relating to this credit card.
Thanks

Hi there
I would give it a go, this was obviously worthless to you and you were out of pocket due to this, so go for it, if you still have your account number then just use that on your reclaiming letter.
If you have not got any paperwork at all then write to them and enclose a payment of £1 postal order or cheque payment and request that they sent you a copy of your Agreement by 12 days and post by recorded delivery.
You can try retrieving your account number on either statements they used to send, if the account is still active then the statements they send you, the account number details should be found on there.
You could request a Subject access request (SAR) where they have 40 days to comply and send everything possible as requested on the SAR letter template.
There is a charge of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this request, again post by recorded delivery.
Link here for the template letter:

For more information on reclaiming, check this link here:

You write to them by giving your reasons of how you believe this was mis sold, bascially as you state in you above post, and on the link above you will also come across a checklist of mis selling reasons, if any of them also occur to you then write them as well.
You do not need to write the amounts at this time.
You can use the templates shown on the link above if you want to, or as a guide with your own words.
They have 8 weeks to respond in full.
Keep at them until they resolve in your favour, or until they issue you with the final decision.
The final decision should also enclose details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS), you should be able to take your complaint to these if your not happy with the outcome.
Good luck with this and please post up for further help if required, and please also keep us posted, cheers.;)

The fact this happened highlights 1) you were not made aware of a significant exclusion and 2) you suffered an actual loss as a direct result of that. you have strong grounds, get your money + interest back.0

I would write to the credit card company.
