Weekend tube fares

Hi,

Going to London at the end of the month for the bank holiday weekend.

I was just looking at the Underground website, and it would appear that the old weekend travelcard has been scrapped. Could anyone confirm this?

Also, I see that a 3 day card is available, but this is exactly 3 times the cost of a single day card. So apart from the inconvenience of queuing each day, where is the incentive to buy a 3 day card especially given the fear of losing the card on day 1 or day 2 and that is up to £18.90 down the tube (excuse the pun) instead of £6.30?

I'd stick to the one day off peak ticket. Especially as you can get them cheaper if you know you are only going to travel within zones 1-4 [£5.40] or
even zones 1-2 [£4.90]. So, yes the three day one is a total waste of time.

Thanks, but we are will be at Hounslow West which is zone 5. Still think I will buy them 1 day at a time though.

If you get yourself an Oystercard (£3 deposit) and use that to pay for all your single journeys on the tube/bus, the maximim amount you pay (deducted from the card) on a daily basis is 50p cheaper than a paper day travelcard.
