Get hold of all the nail varnish you can & let them have a manicure/pedicure party. Best done outside to avoid mess!
Another bit more "grown up" game - put an empty cereal box on the floor & everyone takes turns in picking it up with their teeth - no hands allowed. Keep cutting an inch or so off the top each turn so it gets lower to the floor. You must keep both feet on the floor at all times. Causes mass hilarity!0 -
The Mars bar/malteser game...
You will need : plate, knife n fork, chocolate, hat and gloves, a dice.
All sit in a circle with a plate, knife n fork with the choccie in the middle.
Birthday girl puts on the hat and gloves and starts to eat - she must use the knife and fork to eat the choccie.
The other kids each take it in turns (go round the circle) to throw the dice.
When someone throws a 6, the person in the middle has to stop eating, take off hat n gloves - the person who threw the 6 now puts on the hat n gloves and gets to munch away until another person throws a 6.
Even when the person in the middle is swapping over, the dice still moves round the circle. Hilarious to see someone finally getting that elusive malteser up to their face when someone throws a 6
Loads of fun and giggles.0 -
Yes, second the Mars bar game absolutely - a big slab of dairy milk (or value alternative
) is even harder to manage - and if you add a coat, scarf you can make them work harder to dress/undress before eating.
I remember this from youth club and that was at age 15!!!0 -
Ducking for fun size sweeties - always a hit at my kids parties with kids ages ranging from 5 to 12.0

If you can get hold of a pack of balloons then you could have knockout balloon bursting championships:
You inflate the balloons, 1 per child per round and tie them to a piece of string about 2-3 feet long. Tie the other end of the string securely around the child's right ankle. Then get the kids in pairs and let them take turns to run round the garden/park trying to step on the other kid's balloon, but while trying not to get their own balloon burst. The winner of each round is the child who bursts the other's balloon first. You can do it in knockout rounds until the child with the last unburst balloon is the winner.
Another thing I wouldn't underestimate is how much 11-12 year olds might enjoy simple 'childish' games like musical chairs/statues, if they are doing it 'for the sake of the 6 year old'....
Above all, my advice would be to scrimp where you can on the costs of food, but try to get a few balloons and a bag of 'Swizzels' type mini steets/lollies as prizes - they don't need to be expensive or big, but it will add to the fun and competitiveness of the afternoon.
Let us know how your get on!!!!
