Fined for returning to park in same road?

I've had a search and can't find these circumstances. I parked in a lined-bay on the road. The sign said restriction was for two hours, no return within four hours. I was there about an hour, then left. I returned a couple of hours later and was careful not to park on the same stretch of road, but parked at the other end of the road instead, thinking it was far enough away. It clearly wasn't as I returned after about half an hour to find a ticket on the screen. Are there any rules as to distances you have to be away from original parking space when returning to the same road.

It doesnt mean just that particular park you were in.
It means all the parking bays in that articular area.
We have a town square where i live, and cars park on it for up to an hour
The signs on there say the same as in your post.
We can park for an hour, and are not allowed to park again for
another 4 hours anywhere on the square.
Looks like it's 'pay up' time - sorrymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Yes, I appreciate that would apply in a "square" as you say, but I'm talking about a relatively long road, probably over 1/2 mile long. Surely there is some distance restriction as some roads can easily be several miles long. It wasn't a car park or square where I was parked, it was on the side of the road in marked bays. They weren't single bays either - they were relatively long "boxes" along the side of the road, obviously broken where there were side roads and entrances to premises - probably each "box" held 10-20 cars - I was at least 2 or 3 "boxes" away in each parking location probably 1/4 mile apart. There must be some legal limit as to distance surely?0

If its the same road then it is the same area and the parking notice applies to the whole street and not just hat particular bay.0

Whilst I imagine that might be the intention of the restriction I fail to see what provision for signage exists.
A plate for a particular bay can only apply to THAT bay, not others. Each must be plated.
A bay is defined as a 'parking place'. If you returned to a different bay then there may well be an argument that you have parked in a different 'place' and hence no contravention.
TRO contents would be interesting. Even then, how could such a restriction as Horace and McKneff describe be accurately and clearly communicated?
Interesting one.
Would be more interesting if OP followed sticky instructions and got the basic details up!0 -

Yes, i agree, the signage is ambiguous. We have four of these signs that say 'no return within 4 hours' but it doesnt say either to the park that your in or the area of parking - as you say, interesting one.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Are there any horizontal black directional arrows on these signs ?
They mean "in the direction shown".
Depending upon the signs and the layout these may make a difference.
A map or sketch of the layout and photographs of the signs at each location would be beneficial. Also even legitimate signs must not be confusing.0
