Sending cash from overseas buyer

My Ebay listing states Paypal from overseas buyers only but I was just recently posed this question from an interested buyer:-

I am a US buyer that would be interested in purchasing this item to add to my collection. Although I do not use Paypal for overseas transactions, I do have British pound notes or could send you US currency cash. I would mail it certified mail with a return receipt form that you would need to sign upon delivery.

The item should sell for about £20 and as thay are willing to pay by cash I thought it might be OK. Has anyone here had cash sent from America and any problems associated with this method... Regards....freddy

No experience of this, but you won't send the item until you have received the cash so can't see how it would be a problem.

I don't take cash as firstly ebay don't allow sellers to ask for it but more importantly I have problems with my post being tampered with.

You are allowed to accept cash if the buyer suggests it, so as long as you are happy with it then go for it.

I have had cash sent thru the post from USA. When someone wanted to send dollars I asked if they would add the cost of conversion to pounds. It would only be a small amount on £20 about 3%. Just tell them to conceal the notes well between a couple of sheets of printed paper, they should be fine. If they are sending it 'signed for', just check that it hasnt been tampered with before you accept the envelope.

    ...what he said, (above)

I too have been sent cash. Once a buyer from France did have problems - he had to send it to me again.

Same. I had a US buyer who sent me a cash payment in dollars. There weren't any problems.

Thanks for your answers, have replied to them saying it was OK to pay in British Pounds if thay won the auction. All my other buyers from the states have paid using Paypal, I will wait and see. Thanks....freddy
