Ok..please help! ... I plan to fly into Palma for 2 weeks and find accommodation separately....Majorca on the cheap?!
Criteria:
Cheap!
Not a big tacky resort...quieter beach type
Somewhere not too far to transfer to (small kids)
A resort that's child friendly
Please help me find a cheap holiday!

I've been to Alcudia which I found too big and touristy for me, but the beach was nice. Puerto Pollensa was "next door" which seemed quieter and had a good beach too.
I've never fancied Magaluf or Palma Nova. They seem too busy and noisy - more for young party people!
Callas De Mallorca is a tourist built resort, which is basically a load of hotels/apartments and a few shops/bars/restaurants. It's on cliffs so many of the little cove beaches are down steep paths. I wasn't keen on here either and as we had babies in pushchairs with us, we hardly used the beach due to the steep paths.
My fave is Cala D'Or. Many Spanish live there, so it's more like a normal town that a tourist trap. The beaches are a number of small coves with golden sand and they are easy to walk to. The main square in the town has a number of tradtional style restaurants and there are no nightclubs. The marina is fab with massive expensive yachts to drool over! They were very child friendly and it takes about 30-40 mins by taxi from the airport. Highly recommended. Here I go again on my own....0 -
i would avoid alcudia, magaluf and palma nova if you prefer quieter resorts.
as becles says cala dor, porto pollensa are good choices. porto pollensa has a long beach whereas the beaches at cala dor are smaller cove like.(have to say pollensa is my favourite). and its easy to travel to next door alcudia if you want a bit more excitment like water parks etc.transfers most places in majorca are no more than an hourx x x0 -
