personalised car plates

Hi there

It's my 30th birthday next week and my present is a personalised registration plate for my car ( Not very moneysaving i know but i follow all the other tips religiously!)
Does anyone know where the best place to purchase one of these would be?

Best place is to go directly to the DVLA at http://www.dvla-som.co.uk/home/

Going direct will be cheapest option but its only plates that have not yet been purchased privately (issued).

A much more comprehensive list of available plates can be found at http://www.regtransfers.co.uk/ This includes the majority of plates available as they act as agents, including for plate held by the DVLA.

However what I'd do is use regtransfers to find my desired plate and make sure I checked with the DVLA site before purchasing. If the plate has not yet been "issued" it will be cheaper buying direct from the DVLA.
