Bank charges claim

Hi

I am new to all of this and was wondering if anybody can help me. I had both a bank account and credit card with the Halifax which have now been closed. I would like to claim back the charges on these accounts.

However, my mortgage is also with the Halifax and I was wondering if claiming back charges would put my mortgage in jeopardy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Your mortgage is covered by a completely separate agreement and as long as you are not in arrears will not be affected at all.
  • Hi

I do have arrears on my mortgage which I intend to pay off by the end of October. How will it affect me. I want to claim under the hardship rules.

    Thanks

Does beg the question, if you can pay off your mortgage arrears, on what basis are you claiming financial hardship?
  • Hi

We do have an IVA and thought maybe we could claim under the hardship rules because of that. Would that be the case? Also, can I claim the credit card charges anyway?

    Thanks for your help.

If you have an IVA it's unllikely that you will meet the banks criteria for financial hardship, but that doesn't mean you can't claim a refund of bank charges
Also, can I claim the credit card charges anyway?
    Yes you can.
  • Thank you very much for your help. It is all so confusing and I appreciate any advice.
