your hand is touching the touch pad when you type
it annoys the hell out of me.

Your palm touches or thumb touches the edge and the light touch registers as a click which moves the cursor. Turn off the touch pad if your not using it. makes life easy then. You could have an Fkey which has a square with a hand over it, if you press Fn key usually next to the windows key and that Function key it should deactivate it, repeat to turn it back on.

My acer had the key, not sure about Dell cause I not have a problem with the Dell but then the keys and pad are better positioned for my typing style.

    if you go to
    control panel
    mouse settings
    dell touchpad in a tab.
    click the mouse pad picture
click button settings. then in the new window go to device select you can turn off the touch pad that way

or click the tick box at the bottom which turns off the pad when you have a USB mouse plugged in. so you never have to worry about the pad when you have a mouse , but it will be on when your mouse is not plugged in

    I just learnt something too.

  • Thanks for all that, I have set it to heavy and will see how I get on with that. If it keeps on I will turn it off altogether. I love this board you are all so helpful on here.
