Hi
my son who is nearly four looks like he is about to be diagnosed with Autism.
We are looking at him starting ABA therapy to give him the best opportunities in life.
Has anyone any experience of the therapy? or knowledge that they can share, we are meeting a consultant from an ABA provider next week and want to have all the right questions to ask in advance,
Thanks
Neil

I can only say my youngest is now 12 and has achieved absolutely nothing in the school system.
I really wish we had pursued this when he was a pre-schooler as it is almost impossible to get it funded at the grand old age of 12.
Presumably you already know of Peach.
I have recently been in contact with Network Interventions and they seem very professional, a friend of mine has ABA delivered by them for her 7 yr old and speaks very highly.
Whatever you do keep looking at all the private interventions most especially if your child is severe, anything, absolutely anything is preferable to the absolutely disgraceful babysitting service offered by the state system who you will find are not accountable in any way.
If there is no progress they will simply invent it and these years slip by very quickly, the worst thing would be to get to 18 and berate yourself for not trying everything out there.
Wishing you very good luck with this.

Have you checked out the Treehouse website?
https://www.treehouse.org.uk/
They use ABA and have some information about it. They also have a forum: 'talk about autism' which is very useful.0 -
Hi Neil - we have run a program for my daughter since she was 3 - she will be 8 in December. We have done both Lovaas and VB and currently have an integration arrangement with a mainstream primary school. I would be happy to talk to you about it off list if you wish...

The National Autistic Society has a page on ABA

You just have to do what is right for your child. Autistic Spectrum Disorder is so huge & varied it is difficult to tell what will work best with each individual.
Talk to your educational psychologist, your local support group and your nearest special school (some of them have pre-school facilities) and see what they would recommend for your son.
