Changed Supplier - Massive Bill!

I've recently changed my gas and electric supplier and how now got massive bills from my previous supplier - it looks like not only have they been undercharging us on our set direct debit but that there is also an outstanding amount from a supplier previous supplier - my last supplier have told us it's not worth disputing the amount as we'll then have 2 people chasing us for money - one can they expect us to pay money owed to them when no issues have been raised for over 9 months otherwise we would have increased our payments - and 2, should we dispute the amount owed to the supplier previous to that - we never had any bill suggesting an underpayment and this is the first we have heard of it - my last supplier has suggested that we pay the full amount to them is that right, is there a chance the other supplier can try to charge us at a later date??

Not getting much help from my previous supplier so would appreciate any help!

Welcome to the forum.

It is pretty normal practice to entice you to switch to a new supplier with an artificially low Direct Debit.

The stock answer I am afraid is that you should have checked your bills and seen that your monthly DD was not covering your consumption.

Presumably the bill from the previous supplier was added to your account with the last supplier?

As long as that bill was raised within a year of you leaving them, it is a valid bill and you have to pay it to one of the suppliers.

You are pretty obviously not going to get much help or sympathy from your last supplier.
