Just had the balliffs turn up as my ex has not paid a Parking ticket on the car that is sitting in my drive. It now has a clamp on with a big sticker on the windscreen.

I explained he dosent live here any more but was keeping the car on my drive as it is un taxed and he couldnt park it on the road. They were ok about it to be honest but while i was discussing it with them both sets of neigbours came out and decided to listen to the whole conversation.

I have done everything in my power to sort out my own debts but feel completly devastated now because living in a small village i know that it is only a matter of time before it becomes public knowledge that i am in trouble.

Am i stupid to feel this way?

Does anyone else worry about people finding out about their debt?

I almost feel it is worse for people to know about my situation than the situation itself if that makes sense...

Sorry just needed to offload as i have no one to turn to..

    Hi

Sorry it is so hard - I know how nosy and gosipy villages can - be everyone knows if you had bacon for breakfast.

But it is a problem with your ex, not you, so keep you chin up. be brazen if possible - "feel really peed off with him making me look stupid in the village".

And while you are about it, ad an l to public?

  • I think one of the main things being on here has taught me is the nerd club motto

"Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts"

At the place I used to work I was amazed the people who would talk to me about debts, after I was honest enough with them to say the above motto:T

You are dealing with your debts:T

I didn't mean to be flippant or upset you in anyway and apologies if I did.

I have been where you are and do know where you are coming from...I still get people asking stuff and I either tell them to b!gger off and mind their own business or I'm flattered that they are interested in me.

You are facing things and that's the main thing...

  • Don't take it to heart, just ignore them,if people having nothing else better to do than to nosey on others business then their own lives must be pretty blunt.

I bet you any money they will have debts, most people spend more than they earn despite their income. You are not alone, you are facing your debts, s*d the neighbours.
