Natwest demanding money....HELP!

I have incurred a debt with NATWEST purely from bank charges totalling £482.02, (£200 of which is an authorised overdraft) I contacted the bank to try and come to an arrangement to pay it off and found the so-called 'Helpful Bank' not helpful at all, in fact, the man I spoke to was quite aggressive and rude.
I stopped using this account in March because I kept incurring charges and they cancelled direct debits on numerous occassions without informing me.thus incurring charges from my mortgage lender etc. I left some money in the account so as not to go over my overdraft but unknown to me I had yet more bank charges to come.
I phoned the banks helpline today to try and come to an arrangement but instead got very unwelcome advise:
He first said I had to pay £282.02 in full today. When I said I didn't have that amount of money he asked if I had a credit card, (which I haven't). He didn't believe me and then said that the natwest would do a credit check to see if I had one!
Then he told me to borrow the money from family. I don't have any family so he then said to borrow it from a friend and said, 'you do have friends I take it'. I told him that wasn't an option and he had no right to suggest such a thing.
I told him I could afford £20pm and asked if they could stop any more charges so I could pay the debt off and he said no, that's not enough. He said I had to pay £64 and they would extend the overdraft and reduce it every month by £64 but there is no way I can afford that.
Finally, after refusing my £20pm again he said that he was now closing all accounts I have with NATWEST and defaulting me as a bad debt. He told me that I will now be contacted by debt collectors and will be taken to court.
What am I supposed to do? I have tried to come to an arrangement but they're just not interested and downright rude into the bargain!
Any advice please?
Thanks
Sarah

Reclaim the bank charges. End of. Refuse to speak to Triton(usually they are the starting ones). If they do default you then when the charges are got back you can have them. If they sue you in court you will counterclaim for the bank charges.I have incurred a debt with NATWEST purely from bank charges totalling £482.02, (£200 of which is an authorised overdraft) I contacted the bank to try and come to an arrangement to pay it off and found the so-called 'Helpful Bank' not helpful at all, in fact, the man I spoke to was quite aggressive and rude.
Birmingham Collections or Telford CMS?

He's lying and threatening you.
Then he told me to borrow the money from family. I don't have any family so he then said to borrow it from a friend and said, 'you do have friends I take it'. I told him that wasn't an option and he had no right to suggest such a thing.

Targetted clearly for recovery of money.

So here is the advice, on Monday morning request you bank statements back to 27th July 2001(might cost you £5.00). IF a debt collector EVER contacts you remind them that collecting a debt in dispute is contrary to OFT Debt collection guidance.
