Problems with Xbox Live, Homeplug, and O2 router

Hi -

I've just bought an Xbox 360 and connecting it via Homeplug, but it won't work properly - it has to download an update, and it's literally stayed on 1% for an hour. The internet is connected, as a test showed, but it's just going really slow on downloads. This same problem occurred when I had a PS3 - downloads would take a ridiculous time, but actual online gameplay was flawless.

I have O2 broadband at home, using an O2 router, and this is connected to the other Homeplug.

I was just wondering whether it is possible that there is some setting or something that could be changed with the O2 router that could make a difference, or if there were any other solutions?

Thank you
