2 months ago i sorted out for my mum and dad to go on to a basic bt line each of them, they were both origionally on mobiles but they wanted broadband, i phoned bt on there behalf with there permission and the man on phone was ok with that as i was the best person to deal with it all, so i enquire about the bt basic package which is i think about 14 pound a quarter and the guy said ok and we will also send you a form to put on there benefits numbers down as they had met the criteria but needed proof so thought no problem, i live away from them so told them when they get form to let me know etc, as of yesterday still no form but last month they took the 14 pound out for the quarter and had a bill to say it was that much for the quarter, today my mum gets a letter from them saying as she didnt send form back she wont be on basic package?????? omg!!!!! as im not there i told her to phone them and see if letter was a mistake, its not a mistake they are not letting her have basic package saying she hasnt sent it back omg she didnt get it neither has my dad but she can have a different package which is 38.50 a quarter, then the cheeky git said time has run out for the basic package now anyway, i am fuming my mum is freting im not there and not sure what to do.
would appreciate any help

get your mum and dad to sort it out? surely they're capable of paying a bill or sorting out their own benefits? If they are living on their own (away from you as a dependant) you would hope they can look after themselves.MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0

A bit harsh.
I often make calls and arrange things for my Mum, there is nothing wrong in trying to help them out and explain what's what.
£38.50 is the quarterly amount for a basic line with broadband capability. With the low user rate you are unable to have broadband.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Are you sure the bill was for BT basic tariff (£13.20 per quarter for line rental) ?
I don't think they would have been put on that tariff until the form is returned.
Also they usually check directly with DWP for benefit entitlement (with the account holders permission) so it's unusual to be asked for proof.
It's quite common to request the BT basic application form and never receive it - as others have reported in the BT Basic thread. You just have to keep (re)-requesting it every few weeks until they finally send one.0 -
