The trick he pulled to stop you phoning out and making you think the line is dead is to not hang up when he said he would ( you cant hang up on an incoming call from most numbers) so when you redialled he was still there probably muted the handset then hung up and called you back
BT cant cut you off that quick and reconnect you in a matter of seconds
Yeah, this is why you could put the phone down then shout upstairs for the kids to pick up the phone when it was someone for them.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... From the (thankfully now passed) days of a very noisy household, I can confirm that works with incoming calls but not with outgoing calls.Yeah, this is why you could put the phone down then shout upstairs for the kids to pick up the phone when it was someone for them.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

I hope they don't phone MiL, she'd fall for this hook,line & sinker....she WILL talk to any cold callers her & refuses to be sensible as she won't accept that anybody would try to cheat her.
As a result she has regular phone calls from people selling double glazing, replacement kitchens, gas/electric, conservatories, hampers etc etcI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
