amazon marketplace late dispatch

I have sold something on Amazon marketplace, ant they expect me to send it within 2 business days. I have found out that it is cheaper for me to send the parcel via a courier, but it cannot be picked up before tomorrow. - which will be the 3rd day.

what are the implications of me sending it late?

will i be fined?

Not fined but it will affect your seller performance and the cut off point for 'failing' sellers is incredibly low. Silly question I'm sure but are you sure the days have been calculated correctly? When exactly did the book sell and was it previously marked as pending?

Realistically though all you can do is go for it, mark it as shipped as soon as you are sure it is being collected (with couriers probably best to wait until item actually leaves you).

Thanks for the reply. i have done a little more research and there don,t seem to be any fees.

I have just realised that the next collection date possible is monday, so it is going to be even more late.

The item sold on wednesday, but i have been a little busy, and was just intending on taking it to the post office until a couple of hours ago. as thisis a large item it is 50% cheaper to send it by courier and it will also be insured.

i was looking at this page to guide me : http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cheap-parcel-delivery

As im just clearing out some unused stuff, it dont think it will be too bad, im not a professional seller.

Unfortunately Amazon is even stricter about seller performance than ebay and if the figures bandied about on the boards is too be believed one late shipment might really hurt a small seller if Amazon decide to close you down while at the same time expecting you to up your performance.

Have you looked at Parcelforce or even stnadard parcels via the Post office (asusming item is cheap enough of course).

The buyer might not be very understanding especially if you haven't kept them up to speed and even then they might still leave poor feedback.

With the new "confirm dispatch" button - do they track dispatch performance automatically ?

Alledgedly yes, also according to seller rumours on the boards when an item has not been marked as shipped the buyer gets a note from Amazon apologising for the seller non performance and saying something like 'we will be contacting the seller to ensure that your item is either shipped or cancellled shortly'.

The problem is with all the rumours on Amazon CS will never confirm or deny anything as they don't seem to know how it works themselves.

Thanks - actually sounds like a good system to me. Wonder when eBay will introduce it...
