Is it ok to cancel insurance with an unsettled claim ?

I had a small car accident in Febuary, which was my fault, since then i havent driven much.
A claim was submitted by the person i bumped i did not claim, as im not driving the car (havent driven since the accident) and my partner is, we wanted to insure the car in his name with me as an additional driver.
When i tried to add him as an additional driver to my policy the insurance company declined.
The claim is unsettled so im unsure if it would be ok to cancel my insurance ?
Another question is how do i find out how much the claim was for ?

Thanks
Ally

You can cancel the Insurance but you will not get any refund, if your paying by instalments they will require you to pay the remainder of the instalments still.

You could find out the cost of the claim by ringing your Insurers and asking them
