Car may be written off

Someone managed to reverse into my car (nobody hurt, fortunately) and admitted liability. The car's about thirteen-years-old or so, but just flew through its MOT without a hitch, and despite this is likely to be written off due to age. I was considering the scrappage scheme as an option before it runs out of money.
Question is, if their insurance company does go through the write-off procedure, has anyone any knowledge of what they do when told it's worth £2k to me in trade-in?

They will not pay you £2000 trade in value they will give you the pre accident market value.
The only possible chance of you getting the £2000 is if you can prove you were already going down this route not just thinking about it0 -
Damn - sounds like I left it too late.
Thanks.0 -

Thanks.
Theoretically, even if the insurance company writes it off if it is minor damage it will be allowed to be purchased and driven due to the write off category. Why not offer to just keep it and trade it in?0 -
The scrappage scheme doesn't allow written-off vehicles last I looked
Getting the fellow repaired is an option after a salvage buy-back, but they won't accept it.0
