if I were your brother I would be happier for you to clear your debts first (on which I guess you're paying interest) than pay me back the money you owe.

If it would you feel better you could set up a standing order so that each month a token amount is saved for the purposes of paying back your brother but as I said I would concentrate on paying your debts first.

btw how did you plan to give him the money when you had eventually saved enough?

Sorry, your post wasnt very clear. You owe your brother money? Has he said he needs/wants it all back or is he asking you to repay him in installments? Pop over to the debt free wannabe board if you want some help with your budget/debts.. You'll probably have to pay a charge every time you transfer some money to your bro - not sure if there is another way around this, could you pay the money into a UK bank account (if he has one) - saves you footing the charge every time you send money....

What about an account where you can make a deposit in one currency and have the choice of withdrawing it in different currencies. I've had a quick look and a number of the banks do such an account. I'm not saying that they are perfect but may be a solution to the problem of getting the money eventually to you brother.
