long term sick and terminating my employment....help/advice needed

The reason for the worry about disability discrimination is that the firm could leave themselves open to unlimited damages if they were held to have discriminated..
This is scaremongering and not relavant to this thread. The OP has not been discriminated against (given the postings).
Home visits, looking for other roles all mentioned in the DDA have been covered by the employer.
I really don't see why DDA and compensation is mentioned in this thread.

OP - You stated briefly you were unsure if you were likely to return. Naturally this is based on medical advice but what do you feel. Is it too early to be discussing these adaptations, etc with your employer? As some mentioned already another 12 months on top of you current period off sick (not talking about the mat leave here) would probably see your contract terminated. If however you envisaged you could return in some form to your role then, yes there are a number of things that you may not have discussed with you employer such as phased return, working from home (is this feasible?), condensed or reduced hours, job share, Workstep (supported employment).
Hope the information is of some use and all are perfectly acceptable discussion items.0 -

Sorry but it is very relavant as it may well be what the firm is worried about. Many people (and companies) worry far too much about the remote possibility of litigation, out of all proportion to the real risk. However, if they are concerned, they may well be looking at a compromise agreement as a way of reducing their risk.0
