help choosing a credit card...........

I have never had a credit card before. I would like one as backup whilst shopping. I will not be over spending and will be in control constantly. I am abroad alot with work and ever time i use my debit card i get charged for using it! which adds up to alot. Yesterday they bank did a check on my account ! my friend had to help and pay for me with her credit card. In the situation yesteday i have no back up at all hence the reason for this. I hear good reports about amex blue and nectar rewards. Can anyone recommend a card for me??? kindest regards coocbear xxx

If you are going to use it abroad a lot, then Nationwide is one of cheapest.

yep, I travel extensivly abroad and without a credit card it can be quite embarrassing or sometimes you feel awkward. I held AMEX for a long long long time but through a slight discrepency (see my other post) we fell out but saying that I still think they are good. I too have Nationwide so tend to agree with this, but purley on the cheapness and good deal I get overall for business and personal cards, though I have not shopped around in awhile.
