How do I know where to ind my account details, if I dont have any records anymore?

Hi there,

I am looking to have a go at reclaiming my bank charges over the years. I have had bank accounts just about everywhere, and moved addresses quite often to.
Truth is, I dont know where to start as although I can just about remember where I have been, I have no idea of account details. Can I find this anywhere?
If there is money out there belonging to me, Id really like to get my hand on it.

Just one more thing, if the account closed due to default, can you still make a claim? Im sure one of my accounts ended this way :(

Many Thanks

  • If you don't know all the addresses you have lived at then to be honest it will be a shot in the dark with all financial institutions, however, if there is a default then that saves one of them since the details should be on your credit report.
If you know the various banks then write to each and ask for your details giving as much information as possible including addresses

I'm in the same position, not with the addresses but not knowing account numbers or sort codes.

Will the first template letter stating I don't know my account number but I know it was registered at the address I live at now be sufficient?

Include previous addresses if they may have been registered at those addresses.

I opened the account at this address and as far as I know never changed it while having the account, so hopefully that will be enough

Could you tell me where I can find this template please?

    Thanks very much :)
