removing advertising from free memory stick

I got a free memory stick from a sunday newspaper a few months ago and have been using it to store some work stuff on (non-confidential).

The memory stick was to promote a film coming out and there are clips from the film and links to a website which start up every time I insert the memory stick. I have tried to remove them and edit them so none of it starts when I use the stick but it says I need to have admin powers for this.

It is defeating the point of having a money saving free stick if I have to bin it due to hassle it causes every time I use it.

Any tips how to over ride this?

I have formatted the stick but it hasn't removed the advertising.

The data I had on the stick was registering as being on the 'g' drive and this all removed during the formatting. The website links and promotional info also on the memory stick registers as being on the 'f' drive and didn't go.

there is no option to format the 'f' drive and going into the administrator bit when trying to edit it draws a total blank as permission to edit anything is refused. The links are read only links and even unticking the read only box causes permission to edit to be refused.

This was a freebie from the NOTW and I am sick of seeing promos for the Bruno film. grrr! Any tips gratefully received

Try using Disk Management which is in the Computer Management section of the Administrative Tools control panel. Hopefully right-clicking the offending partition will bring up a menu with an option to get rid of it.

Usually these partitions are fixed in what the stick specifies as ROM, so can't be changed or removed.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

:T woo-hoo bruno is gone! Thank you for the advice and for being so quick to respond. I removed the file path letter first then scrolled down to where the section was contained and it allowed me to format it from there. Thanks again. :j

    Glad I could help.
If you want the drive to appear as just one letter you can take off both partitions then create a new one which takes up all of the space. Copy your stuff off it first though!

I am just overjoyed that Bruno has gone. It is the small things in life that are making me happy tonight :)
