I think in many shops - mainly the supermarkets the bags come on a dispenser whereby when you pull a bag off it it opens the bag as you pull it off.

Its the other shops that are the problem but its hard opening bags sometimes!

It sounds unhygenic - a nurse too - she should know better with all the risk of bodily fluids and other infections that can be passed on

She may be friendly but her advice and methods sound rather dubious - check it with your doctor or physician before taking her advice.

My mother used to spit on her hankie all the time to clean my face. I remember fighting her off :rotfl: I can't imagine a nurse doing that though

yeah, thats why I am sort of hoping she forgot herself for a moment and went into "mum" mode instead of "nurse" mode - OH came straight home and scrubbed her face - said she felt really yucky - eeuuwww!!

OH is still pondering about it - the bit that got her back up was the fact that the nurse wiped it all round the area where her eye infection was (although, strangely enough, that is now getting better - maybe the nurse had drunk so much gin that it helped kill off the infection).

Saliva is a natural antiseptic :o
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

I work as a PA to the CE and Chairman of a Hospital. We get letters in all the time of complaint, accolades and both in one letter. Every single letter of complaint (and a half complaint/half accolade) gets investigated. Basically it gets handed to the complaints staff who figure out what went wrong or who could have done what better and then the CE writes back to the complainant.

I would write to the Chief Exec of the community minor injuries unit or the CE of the local Primary Care Trust (PCT) and tell them what happened. You could thank the nurse for her thoughtfulness about the alcohol/drug tip but say that she could have explained it better or more thoroughly. And then mention about the spit, the nursing staff would then probably get an infection control reminder/training course - no one would be fired/disciplined/hurt - just gentle reminders issued - usually enough to deal with it.

Your own is fine on yourself - gin certainly is as alcohol is used as a pre jag wipe:D

That sounds fair - she sounded to mean well but saliva is a bit OTT and she probably needs the reminder
