problems over will

My wifes Father died at the begining of July 2009, and we are having trouble with his second wife, and hope someone may be able to help with some info as to what to do. The wife has said that she does not want anything to do with her husbands side of the family ( which we can except as she is not a nice person anyway).
The trouble is she is the only excutior of the will, she has given us a copy of a will dated 2001, which we are not sure if this is the latest one.
In the copy of the will it states there is a trust fund for my wife and her 2 brothers, but no date or time as to when this trust fund will pay out, or where it is.
The wife will not let them have access to any statements, documents or policies and she will not apply for Probate, apart from going to a solicitor what cause of action can any body recommend.

There's no time limit by which a grant of probate must be obtained..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
