Anyone know anything about them? They have offered me the best deal on a new MX5 but I don't know anyone who has used them.

For up to the minute GENUINE deals & prices http://www.honestjohn.co.uk clik This Weekds Best Deals.

Not heard of the company you mention.

As for Mx5 - assuming you mean new, there are some deals now coming thru, with a few £$£$ of list price in main dealer.

Also reasonable lease/private contract offers too.

The used model shows signs of creeping up in price, for sunshine, on later models, in auction now. They were ABSOLUTE bargains - £8000 for 04 plate a month or 2 back!

I did a search on the via a company tracking firm and they had had multiple change in the company (directors, company secretary etc) since it was formed only a short while ago. Please note that their registered office address is shared by several hundred other companies

Also someone I spoke to on another site told me that the prices they quote are only indicative, they insist on a deposit against an "intended " price , but reserve the riight to charge a higher price than that agreed with you if they decide to !! (this may have changed).

Also some cars are second hand.

If you think that they sound like the kind of people you would like to deal with - good luck.

Thanks to both of you. I think I will pass. I do have a suspicious nature and they were so much cheaper than anyone else that I did wonder. I would rather pay the little extra and get the car I want whilst it's still summer!

Hey dragonsoup no problem.

My resaerch came from a friend wanting to buy a Chrysler 300C Crd.

When there were none available in the country, the waiting list was 12 weeks long 7 dealers were charging a PREMIUM to get the car, GR8 were offering a £2000 discount off the car.

But when you actually contacted the company, it was a different story.

p.s. the discount is now only about 1.5% - £383.00.
• I used them to buy my MX5 2.0i Sport. Car was brand new with only 4 miles on the clock. It was delivered on time. They took my old car in part exchange at a good price. I saved about £1800 on list price.

Would highly recommend them.

I am always highly wary the value of posts from people who on their first post make great recommendations for companies that have grey clouds hanging over them.

• I used great car deal about 6 months ago to buy my car via PCP as they were the cheapest, i went up to stafford to collect the car the staff were all friendly and helpful during the 6 week wait and the purchase. They took my deposit and i took my new car home. No problems at all. My only worry now is that i have heard that they are in Liquidation and where do I stand when my 42 month PCP plan is up? I was going to go back and part ex for a new car and start a new plan but now I'm stuck! do i sell privately and settle the difference with the finance company? DO i go to a dealer and get a part exchange then pay the remainder to the the finance company? Will a dealer take a car that has outstanding finance even though as soon as i get the money the finance will not be outstanding?! very confusing.

(yes i did dig this thread up from the archives!)

Unitzero - this post isn't really relevant to the original thread. Frankly, you have your car and your contract with your finance company with three years to run.

In three years' time you can do whatever suits you best at that time, depending on what you want from a new car and how much is outstanding on the PCP then compared to the value of the car. I imagine you would still have the option of handing the car back to the third party finance company who would then auction the car off.

Dealers will generally take a car with finance outstanding so p/x shouldn't be a problem. Another option that you haven't mentioned might be to borrow the outstanding amount from a bank and then use that money to pay off the car and then sell it on - but until much nearer the time and without some proper figures and details on your car, it's impossible to say what will be the right option - and it's just not worth giving too much thought to at the moment.
