Atlantic Electric pricing query, OWL system?
Options
Can anyone point me in the right direction, I've just bought an OWL system and I'm trying to programme it, and I think I need to put the different tariffs on for peak and normal?
I've got the rates from the website but unsure when they take effect, any ideas?
Thanks

If you mean economy 7 then its between 1 am and 8am but it varies between areas.
If you mean the first X units that cover the old standing charge then there is no way of accounting for that.
I wouldn't worry about it too much though, Owls aren't particularly accurate, just keep an eye on the Kwh smaller the number the better. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I'm just on normal not economy 7, should I just put in the larger tariff from 6am til 6am or do I not need to put one in at all. I'd like to though so what would be better?0

If you only have a 1 rate meter you just need to input one price. The easiest way is to take your last bill and divide by the amount of units used. This will give you an average price for the first higher rate then the remaining lower rates.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Ooooh sorry to be thick, my units over the past 6mths are 2369 what am I dividing it by (180 days?) = 13.16
Or add the two unit price higher and lower and divide that?
Need basics.....sorry0 -
Do I not need to put the hours in that this tier covers?0

I think Atlantic charge for 900kWh pa at the high(tier 1 rate) and the rest at the low rate(tier 2)
So if you use 4,900kWh per year, you use 4,000 at the low rate.
If, say, you are charged 20pkWh for the High rate and 10p/kWh for the low rate. your average cost is 11.84p/kWh*
However I agree with vestra above, I would just use the low rate. You use up the 900kWh anyway, so the best indication of running costs is the low rate.
* (900 x 20p) + (4000 x 10p) = £580 divide by 4,900 = 11.836p/kWh0 -
Thank you, I think I've done it....well it seems to be working ok...whether it's right is something different.:T0

Good little gadget, thinking of passing it onto my in laws, does anyone know what the electricity tier for StayWarm is, I've tried looking online but think they like to keep this info close to their chests.

Surely the whole point of StayWarm is that there is no tier rate.
They give you a flat monthly rate to pay, and in theory it does't matter how much gas and electricity you use.
In practice if you use more than they felt reasonable for that payment, they increase it the following year.0
