sorry Emma but what exactly has been said? - nothing. it is a fact that a large number of MSE users are getting very disgruntled with you and your colleague and your advertising of your business and your very weird and overly involved answers to a lot of posts. I would remind you that most people come to this forum for help others or for fun and info - and you and your colleague appear to hi-jack posts and threads for your own benefit. you seem to want to get peoples views on various issues - but this seems more of a marketing ploy than anything else - almost market research, you should really do this elsewhere as its not what these boards are about. seriously take a hint and go elsewhere - other than that I suggest you start your own thread with your issues and then people can decide whether to join in or not - don't hi-jack other threads and try to stop annoying, ridiculing and insulting the MSE users who have been posting and helping people for a long time.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

Yes I do too.
I would remind you Sounds authoritive...did you tell me something before?
appear to hi-jack posts and threads for your own benefit
Please show me where? and the only benefit I gain is to learn and why is this your business?
you seem to want to get peoples views on various issues
Isnt that what people come here for?
almost market research
No not at all.
I suggest you start your own thread with your issues and then people can decide whether to join in or not - don't hi-jack other threads
I did start the threads and I don’t hijack others or do anything lets say for example...that you do or IanW does.
and try to stop annoying, ridiculing and insulting the MSE users who have been posting and helping people for a long time.
We don’t try to any of the above. I have never insulted anyone on here and I will ask what give you the 'rights' to speak to me like this...your long service to the board maybe? Don’t you think its slightly arrogant. I actually believe that 'we' (including you) are honoured guests of this forum and should firstly respect others who come here. Respect goes both ways.0 -
Would you mind sending me your company accounts and tell me how much money you have in the bank? No of course, you wont. Being intrusive therefore is a one-way street? Everyone has to pass your self appointed tests first to establish any creditability here?
You want to know ALL about us and I have no idea who you are? What gives you these rights to be so intrusive about others? Please tell me all about yourself?
Do you have a company and a web site?0 -

what does any handle or user name mean - very little - don't read too much into it.
i'm not being intrusive - its just that your posts and the posts of your colleague are way off the usual - they have a tone that isn't useful to others, you have annoyed a lot of people, a lot of people think that you are spammers trying to get others in difficulty to look at your dodgy website, but I really can't be bothered arguing with you because its Sunday morning, its a beautiful day and I've better things to do with myself.
Just for the record - I come on this website to learn, to ask questions, to help others and for fun, I have life experience and a pretty sounds knowledge of most things financial, I've bought a couple of houses, had a few mortgages, took out loans and credit cards, I have a degree in economics, I read a lot about finance, I work in insurance so I try to help out on the insurance forum if I can, I don't have a business for which I'm trying to drum up trade I'm here because I like to be here and I like to give people support and understanding, I have no ulterior motive - clearly.
Can you say the same - I highly doubt that - if you were here for your own understanding of matters then why do you promote your website, and why do you and "the team" trawl through certain people's posts, why is there "a team" and why have you flooded this forum with over 300 posts in about 2 weeks? Questions that many people are wondering about.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

I'm sorry but very little of that makes any sort of sense to me - I never asked for your company accounts, or how much money you have in the bank. And no not everyone has to pass my tests - in fact no one does. I just asked what your agenda is as clearly you have one.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

It was meant to be a polite question as I wasn't sure if was Gaelic or something.

No, mainly one believes that despite the contrary being posted. There you go again with the unkind words...why dodgy? It is one of the biggest web sites in the world and most it is a public free service being used by over 3.5k unique visitors per day and has around 20k+ email account users, 14K Job applicants and over 25k shopper accounts. For your information we have posted as before mentioned, we did at the start post a link towards very specific information relating to the thread, that is all. In fact others have brought more attention to the site than we have. Yes me too to your last statement above.
That is brilliant and your only 28.
Can you say the same - I highly doubt that - if you were here for your own understanding of matters then why do you promote your website, and why do you and "the team" trawl through certain people's posts, why is there "a team" and why have you flooded this forum with over 300 posts in about 2 weeks? Questions that many people are wondering about.
Most of which has already been answered but I will try again.
Yes I can say the same. I am here to learn and hopefully share some of the expertise that has been gained for others. The 'team' as you put it are not here and is only known because of my honesty in replying to questions like this. Whether I learnt any of what I know through direct experience or through research there still remains a true message that can be shared with other consumers.
Why does anyone here 'trawl' through the forum threads and posts, to learn and to get involved? Even today not one person has contradicted anything I have said in regard to the sub prime market and although I believe there is a place for them there is obviously a lot wrong.
As you mentioned above you have a level of experience and appreciation of the financial markets and your sharing with others. I am sure if someone came here and asked you if the mortgage offer they have is with Smiffy Ltd with 10 years early redemption fees and an interest rate of 23%, I can only assume you will you immediately share some of your thoughts on this. I am not different and if I am able to provide further and more detailed information to others for their consideration then I will. We are no different.
It was never our intention to flood the forum with as many. First it is about getting used to how it all works and secondly had (as we excepted) the experts on here got involved and respected the topic more then this would not have occurred. The welcome mat was taken in as soon as we arrived. If you read the thread you will see a high percentage was the trouble making and not about the topic.
No, you didn’t ask for them and I would regard such information as private and would not ask. Once explained about me that should have been the end to it. However, it seems that there are some on here who actually believe they own the site and are able therefore to ask (if not demand), more pertinent questions under interrogation but not the same for others to have that ability. The only response you receive is "I do not have to justify anything on here...I have been thanked a trillion times".
You may have been taken into the bosom of your fellow bed mates but it seems that anyone else has to go through hoops first and pass a test of competence to join your team. It is not my intention to join any team on here but I do have a message that I think is very pertinent to other consumers.
Let me ask you another question...what if another 30+ FSA advisors were to join the forum, would this upset your world or if 80 year old Mrs Jones a consumer had carried out her own research into something and wanted to tell others, would you allow her or bully her from the forum as you or your 'friends' may not like the topic and if not why not? Yes my agenda is here to chat and support people, in my own time mostly in regard to the expertise I have gained in the subject matters that I am interested in and yes on other topics, if, like you I have an interest to learn then yes I will pop in and out as I have done so to date. Behaviour standards however should be improved in some areas when speaking to someone you don’t know. I am no threat to anyone on here and I do expect the same of others here also towards me, anyone I may be involved with or new people that encounter on here. If you ‘all’ choose to ignore me or anyone on here then that says more about you than it does anyone else and the maturity level being applied is not that high if that is the case to be. The disgusting and low-level churlish, cowardly and arrogant response from IanW proves some of this.
I am now going to watch a horse show in London and I hope you do have a wonderful and enjoyable weekend.0 -

Please do not keep attacking Ian W in your posts, like you, he has a right to his opinions and to express them in whatever way he see's fit. Ian W has given a significant amount to this site and is a well respected and popular poster. He is not a broker, just an educated and informed member of the public who brings balance and genuine help to others from a consumer point of view.
I spoke to you privately at the begining of your outpour of postings and expressed my and the general opinion that you are becoming a little extremeist and putting on too many lengthy posts and you said you did not realise you were doing this and only do it to help others.
I think you are alright as a person, but I do sympathise with other MSE'rs and your postings have flooded the site and brought about a bad atmosphere in what used to be a fun and lively place.
whilst I think some of your comments are valid, and it would be a shame to lose somebody who could be very useful to the site, I do think you need to tone it down just a little. I/we are not trying to bully, or push you out, or feel unwelcome we are simply trying to convey our wishes for you to cool it a bit.
You will no doubt have noticed that other brokers have been posting less and less, AndrewSmith, StanmoreSaver, HomerJ, and myself, all regular and commited brokers. The only one who has persisted at their normal rate throughout your campaign have been Ian W and DunstonH. Credit to them for their persistence!
Please note I am not trying to be offhand or offensive here. I am just stating in plain english what the majority on the board are thinking.

You have to be kidding here folks, surley? ROFL.0

I am afraid not, 3 weeks ago the forum worked in a fairly straight forward way -
1 - Somebody posted their query
2 - A response was posted to answer that query
3 - OP was satisfied or knew what they needed to do to try and find resolve to their query.
Over the last 2/3 weeks, more and more posts seems to be going off topic and people have become more interested in putting personal agenda and point scoring over responding and answering a query.
Admittedly, I too have had some involvement in these posts and I believe that I have reached a mutual respect with Emma in terms of that we seem to both have the interest of the consumer at heart.
I have got past the blame game or naming and shaming but I think that it is the consumer and 99% of people that use the mortgage forum thread are losing out due to all of this.
MortgageMamma is quite right in saying that we as brokers have been posting less, me personally it is because I have been a lot busier but I have also become a little tiresome of it all.
I am not saying that Emma & Co should not have their say in this forum but going back to what I was saying at the start of this post - this forum has always happily worked with people posting a question and get an answer that they need.
These answers do not come from brokers/professionals alone. They come from various people and everbody has their opinion. The only time this becomes a problem is when people start bombarding the boards/threads with information that to be honest is off topic and/or not really important to the people that use this forum on a day to day basis.
This said, I appreciate that Emma and Co (sorry, I am not saying this in a bad way, just the only way I can collectively call the group you are involved with) have been looking at some interesting points, not all that I agree with but some, which may become something of public interest and awareness. Once the research has been done and reports prepared, I am sure Martin would welcome a read of this and if felt that his site would benefit from this then look to work co-operatively with the group of people to help promote that. After all he is the champion of the consumer.
This post is not intended to cause upset or devalue anybodys opinion but can we bring some normality back to the board and mutual respect without the point scoring, abusing other forum members and bringing posts off topic to make a point that relates to another thread?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
