Opening email with file ,help

When i download the the attchment the message i get is , WINDOWS CANNOT OPEN THIS FILE --TO POEN THIS FILE WINDIWS NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT PROGRAM CREATED IT, WINDOWS CAN GO ONLINE TO LOOK IT UP AUTOMATICALLY ,OR YOU CAN MANUALLY SELECT FROM A LIST OF PROGRAMS ON YOUR PC
[CHOICE]
[1] USE THE WEB TO FIND APPROPRIATE PROGRAM
[2] SELECT THE PROGRAM FROM LIST
This has never happened before ,[i just open them ] i am ''NEW'' to email don't know what to do .'' NEW'' make it easy to undestand PLEASE

At the end of the file name should be a dot (.) followed by three alphanumeric characters. Can you tell us what they are please?

.wmv is windows media video. so you can open it with windows media player.

Will i have to do that all the time now ?? why has it only started to do that today .Thanks for your help

You should be able to reset the file association(s) by running Windows Media Player, going to Tools→Options→File Types and ticking the relevant box(es).
