A friend of mine's Dad recently visited a carboot in Hertfordshire, bought an old pop-up childrens book, It was something like 1930's or 40's. He showed my friend who said it might be worth something and that he should sell it on ebay. His Dad said he'd go halves on the sale..after 3 days it was sold for £10,000!!!! Can you imagine how many carboots and junk shops i have been to since, looking for a pop-up book!! Have you any top money making tips at carboots?!

That reminds me. What ever happened to that painting that the OP at the time was getting all excited about and then went all coy at the end.
Did they make a fortune?0 -

I seem to recall it got in the press in the end and yes a rather tasty profit was made. There again of course I might be imagining it.:rotfl:
That's why I am surprised not to have heard about this ebay book, stuff like this gets talked about to death on the Amazon boards, yet there has been nothing at all. No one has mentioned seieng any high end books at all for months.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If he thought it was valuable and he must have done to go halves on it why put it on ebay and not to a specialist book auction like Bloomsbury's ?
Why just for 3 days and not 10?
No mention on the ebay book boards about this?0 -

Thats really great. Any chance of a link to the listing, so that we can see the book.
And of course, that would disprove any thoughts of this being an urban legend....0
