Hmmn "Credit Ratings" for the banks........I seem to remember the "Credit Rating Agencies" giving credit ratings to a lot of commercial paper, not too long ago, and we know how that turned out.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!
"Never in the history of the world has there been a situation so bad that the government can't make it worse." Unknown0 -
Then chose one, and go and look at it.....
It appears that it's too hard....
Someone will no doubt need to let him know the names of the credit rating agancy's and also links to their websites, and maybe also a brief explanation of what the numerous ratings for all the different paper and timespans actually means, and how that might be relevant to an individual saver in the U.K.
P.S. For those who don't know dboswell and theGrinch are the same poster'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
no its not rocket science, but if you need to travel 5000 miles would you walk or use another mode of transport?
no doubt you could do that visting each site, but the point is, there is a significant number of institutions so a quick reference point would be useful NOT just for me but many others.
Well, there you go. You've spotted a gap in the market. I look forward to seeing your new website dedicted just to this subject. As you seem so convinced that finding the information is too hard currently (because looking at three websites is kinda tough) and as you believe the public is yearning for such information, I'm sure you'll make a fortune from it.
Good luck.0 -
the original question was is there ONE place to check these ratings and the answer is no - plain and simple
I never said the ratings are perfect, but some may find them useful in light of little other information that is available - especially in uncertain times when institutions are merging and being taken over. what other information is there regarding the viability of institutions?
unfortunatetly pack mentality and bullying is unhelpful. the subsequent replies are akin to the bully's cowardly friends showing some people are dead from the neck up.
Now if your children were subjected to such bullying maybe you wouldn't find it so constructive.0 -

No it wasn't.why is it so hard
for savers to check the credit rating of UK banks and building societies.
Surely such information should be prominently displayed on say the FSA or readily available.
Any suggestions? I am looking for a full list of institutions i.e. at least 100.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Forums are funny places.
People actually deny they typed things, or claim they typed something completely differenty, when it's there in black and white :rotfl:'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

yeah they make me laugh especially when people ramble an attempted answer about some thing or other.People actually deny they typed things, or claim they typed something completely differenty, when it's there in black and white
who is denying what? hmm you are the one who is talking denial.
surely, the question has now moved on to are you so obtuse to even understand the original post?
I still "perplexed" by your initial rant which added diddly squat. seemed unhinged.0 -
The ratings agencies are: Moody's, Standard and Poor's, and Fitch. Google them, they're pretty high up. You have to register to access the data though, I was going to find them for you but I can't be bothered registering, sorry.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G.
