Venue will not pay up

I play in a band and we did a gig in July 09 at a Chicago Rock Cafe through an agent (with a contract) for £xxx, we invoiced straight after the gig, but they have not paid, we have pestered them but they refuse to pay, what is the best course of action to recover the money.

On a serious note a mate's band played at Shaggy Rock and it took them about 2 months to get paid for it.If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.0
