Hello,
It is urgent my technophobe Mother finds a flight from Glasgow to Los Angeles on August 3rd/4th for 2weeks and it must be via Newark(or JFK if theres a good saving)as she has to meet her Aunt there to fly with her onwards to Los Angeles(or John Wayne if theres a good saving). I know how to check Expedia, Opodo etc but the cheapest i am coming up with is Continental for £710....this is very expensive and thought i would come here for everybodys great advice and tips and i can hopefully get it cheaper. There is a great post i just read earlier about somebody looking for a flight to Los Angeles and with tips and advice from this sight he found a flight cheaper than the cheapest price he found doing his own research so i have faith in this site in helping me get the best deal possibile for her.
Thanks in advance,
PS Myself and my mother really would appreciate all of your advice with this one..it is very important to her.

I suspect that your only option is the continental flight. Usair flies from glasgow but their flight goes into Philly. When I use ITA search, the only flights that come up apart from continental are all code-shares for the continental flight. Also £710 (including taxes etc) is pretty good for high season.0

I think your right Jenniferpa abount continental. I dont expect to get it much cheaper than £710 at this time of year on that limited route but it would be great if we could. I dont think my mum wants to chance a last minute price. However she could fly to JFK &/or John Wayne(Orange County) if this brings a big reduction in price.0

I put in alternate routing but they all come out more (in some cases much more expensive) The only other possible option is a charter to EWR, then something like Airtran to LAX ($335 via atlanta) but even then I doubt you'd get it much lower, and it would be a lot more hassle. I suppose that might work better from a logistics point of view (she could be certain to fly with your aunt) but that's about it. Airfares are unlikely to be dropping this year with jet fuel costs rising. About the only thing that might make a difference is another terror scare. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

She has just spoke to her Aunt...she can go via Philadelphia now if that makes a difference(as her aunt lives right near there). She also doesnt mind having a stop between Glasgow and Philadelphia or Newark...as long as she as a connecting stop there.
Thanks Jennifer.
Keep the good stuff coming, i know this is the best place to come for info. on this sort of thing.0
